Bananas are inherently hilarious, and if there’s one thing smokers love more than cannabis itself, its humor. Banana Bros. was born out of the idea that we should all just take it easy, and throughout history we’ve seen how bananas show up in pop-culture memes to make us laugh. Beginning in the early 1930s, "banana oil" was not only slang for "nonsense" it was also used as both candy flavoring and aviation-grade paint thinner in which the fumes were known to make workers high as hell. In the 60s, hippies and free spirits thought that smoking banana peels or smoking weed out of a banana could give a hallucinogenic effect. Today, bananas stay culturally relevant in the form of pop-culture memes like Art Basel's duct taped banana.

THIS SHIT IS BANANAS

Maintaining the absurdity of the brand identity, the logo depicts a smiling banana. The negative space helps to lighten the weight of the large banana while also tying into the idea of brotherhood. In addition, the clean sans-serif font helps to illustrate the cool, laid back, and not to serious effect similar to that of cannabis.

PACKAGING

What was I going to say? I can't stop laughing! I'm starving.  We wanted to highlight the crazy and funny things we say to each other when we smoke, so we decided to turn it into a graphic element and use it across all packaging. While we played with different unboxing experiences, we needed to take into account Banana Bros' concerns about shipping costs. With that in mind, we settled on a simple box that would look fun and inviting in any orientation on the shelf.
